B.I.R.D. is a dynamic hub engaging in knowledge transfer for sustainable development.

We unbox sustainability for a wide range of organizations, big or small, in the private or the public sector, with solutions that appeal to every age, from children to experienced entrepreneurs. Our goal is to promote sustainable development through unconventional approaches, innovative tools and impact strategies.

We draw on current research and reliably sourced data, to build resilience against disinformation and inspire sustainable mindsets and behaviors. Our approach is kind, respectful, and playful. With an accurate, yet positive discourse we support organizations of all kinds to acquire knowledge, adapt their vision, strategies, tools and organizational culture to the needs of the future.

Our gamified approach to sustainability

We are aware of the importance of high quality information in accelerating the transition towards a sustainable future.

B.I.R.D. grew out of this belief. We exist to support a wide range of public and private actors in successfully designing their change towards sustainability and center their work on environmental- and social justice.

We draw on reliable data to make possible a bird's eye view.

Our team of researchers, journalists and educators collaborates closely to produce sustainable-development solutions and strategies grounded in comprehensive and rigorous information. We rely on solid and relevant data sources, high-quality analyses, an accurate flow of knowledge into tools, and a careful evaluation of the produced impact.

We also take an integrated approach, with focus on the most various aspects, factors and dimensions involved; we place each problem in a context in order to understand it better, close knowledge gaps and generate long-lasting change. In this way we support organizations becoming fit for a complex future.

We deliver our solutions in a tailor-made box of ideas for responsible development, able to create a prompt and lasting impact in a playful, relaxed manner.

We encourage social innovation through methods at the overlap of research, gamification and design, combining art and games with accurate data. Through our solutions we build a bridge between the actors we target in the public or the private sector, environmental researchers, and sustainability-driven designers or artists.

While we believe the message of sustainability is vital, we see the way the message is delivered as equally relevant. We use playful methods and design in order to preserve in our audience a sense of wonder, a fascination about the complexity of our world, a joy at learning more and courage to make a change. Our boxes add materiality to the abstract idea of sustainability, turning it into something you can put your finger on. 

We do not believe that there is an appropriate age at which complex subjects such as climate change should be addressed, and conversely we do not believe that there is an age when people stop playing. A relaxed playful approach can help children and grownups alike to better understand problems and resonate more easily with the idea of change.
